Poet On Watch, Conference Director - Austin, TX

Poet On Watch (P.OW.), our modern day literary griot/ strategically moves us to that sacred place of bearing witness to the power of sexual/racial/political difference as she invokes the authority of her individualization across the landscape of North America. A renaissance womyn, P.O.W. is not only a badass mixologist, she is also a musician with a blazin' CD entitled: "Poet On Watch The Spoken Word Project" now available through BORDERS BOOKS. Also pick up her current mixed media book and CD release entitled “Sageburner Simple Pleasure”.

87 Dance Productions is a two person modern dance company comprised of NC School of the Arts Graduates and twin sisters, Cara and Mackenzie Hagan. Most noted for multimedia dance art  in collaboration with artists from other genres.

LunicLunic - New York

Lunic is a female-fronted indie electro rock duo consisting of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Kaitee Page and violist Megan Berson. They have a unique line-up including electric violin and cello. Lunic released their debut album, Lovethief, In May 2009 and an EP called Splinter in 2008.

Kathryn Findlen - Austin, TX

Mezzo soprano Kathryn Findlen has breathed voice into characters on the operatic stage, oratorio solos, chamber music as well as appeared in solo recital. She has shared her passion for the voice with an exciting new generation of vocal artists through teaching , and is devoted to creating engaging experiences for the evolving audience for classical music.

Natalie Goodnow - Austin, TX

Natalie Marlena Goodnow is a teatrista, teaching artist, and cultural activist from Austin, Texas. She performs, directs, and writes. Goodnow’s work is dialogical in both its process and product, using performance as a tool with which to engage communities in conversation. Natalie explores the relationships between people and places, in terms of relationships to community, to the Earth, and to our own bodies.

Mazz SwiftMazz Swift-Camlet - New York

Native New Yorker and solo artist MAZZ SWIFT, performing under the name MazzMuse, combines elements of classical, folk,  electronica, jazz and otherwise free improvisational music to create a complete musical experience. She is a singer and Juilliard trained violinist (playing both electric and acoustic instruments) who brings her passion for creating true compositions in the spur of the moment to audiences around the world.

Monica McIntryeMonica McIntrye - Philadelphia

Monica McIntyre is an engaging and passionate performer who brings every aspect of her spirit to shows. Wowing audiences with her deep, frame-defying voice and unorthodox cello technique, which often involves the use of: slapping, plucking and strumming. She effortlessly blends the genres of jazz, blues, soul, reggae and middle-eastern music, creating her own musical landscape. The smoky texture and emotional quality of her voice, as it delivers these lyrics, have left audiences crying, dancing, laughing and testifying.

Lacey RoopLacey Roop - Austin, TX

After 20 years of living in Mississippi, Roop loaded up her car and began to drive not knowing that the road of happenstance would lead her to the beautifully blue beating heart of Austin, TX. .Equipped with only three poems and a gut full of nervous fire, Roop catapulted onto the spoken word scene by scoring a perfect 30 her first time reading— Ever.

Nancy Scott - Austin, TX

Nancy Scott has been performing her original songs for over 35 years, mostly in Texas, but also in other parts of the country. Her first album, yes, vinyl, released in 1987, “has a collection of tunes that many a popular, big name artist would give their eye teeth to own. Her songwriting continues to evolve as she is currently working on a new CD. Her style varies from folk to blues blended with a touch of country and rock.

Heather Bishop - Austin, TX

Austin, Texas musician, poet, singer-songwriter, playwright, and multi-instrumentalist, Heather Bishop, was born in New York to West Indian parents and raised in Austin, Texas. Despite her singer-songwriter style and classical training, Heather has always had a proclivity for punk rock and heavy metal.

Dynahsti is a female gospel vocal duo from Dallas, Texas assembled in 2006.  Dynahsti launched with original members Krystal and Ashley Stepney, who are sisters.  Dynahsti’s distinctive vocal style is best described as Gospel meets Pop accented with Techno grooves.

Coming from Ohio, Massachusetts, Texas, and Louisiana, these ladies and gentleman formed together to create an unique group previously lacking from the New Orleans music scene. With veteran rock musicians to their stylistically different backgrounds, including punk, goth, applachian dance, hip-hop, indie rock, and ska, The Locak Skank has worked towards creating their own musical dogma.

The Austin Chronicle stated “Ebony is a wide-eyed
and physically fluid young woman.”  While The
Austin American Statesman describes her
personality and spoken word style as “beasty.”  
Releasing her first spoken word CD, The Chrysalis,
and first published book, The Many Faces of SHE,
Ebony is a traveling artist and established mentor.

Warm and friendly, Terrell's music possesses an intriguing dichotomy of sweet-sounding harmonies laid over sultry, mesmerizing beats. In 2008, Terrell was a featured Vocalist/Lyricist on the hip-hop World Trade project with friends Element7D and Bavu Blakes. As her voice soothes and her lyrics describe a place that may be familiar to many, rest assure her music is one of a kind!

Greta C, often performing under the name Cupcake, is a 2009 graduate of Bemidji State University with BFA in Creative and Professional Writing.She began slamming at the Austin Poetry Slam scene when she moved from Austin TX to Minneapolis MN in November of 2009.Also note, she likes Dinosaurs.

(Daring Reality Every Day) has been internationally performing, educating, lecturing, and presenting workshops for over 15 years.  Her work is written about in at least 12 books.  Her act is less a typical impersonation, and more of what it means to be ‘yourself’, without worrying about if society will accept you or not.  Through her work, she explores how society domesticates us into our preconceived notions and stereotypes of gender, race, spirituality, and sexuality.

Marcie Eanes - Racine, Wisconsin

Eanes has shared her poetry in a variety of venues across the nation. In August 2007 she was one of nine finalists featured at the annual convention of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), one of largest and most influential organizations for journalists of color. Eanes's poem, Quiet Feminity, was chosen for the Austin International Poetry Festival's 2011 'di-verse'-city' anthology.

Yolanda D. Bumpers a native of San Antonio has appeared in such stage plays as "Good Grief" written by Fran Harris with First Stage Productions, and "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf", a Synthrophy Production. She has performed in "Only God Can Change Me", a gospel stage play by BTKP(Building the Kingdom Production)
